I am mostly a vegetarian although I do eat a small amount of meat and fish. I eat a lot more seeds and nuts and fresh veg. We try and buy fresh veg some organic although I am not tied to this. I have a daily green juice and also take Turmeric daily in the form of tea. I drink loads more water around 3 liters of water per day. I am also trying more fermented foods again these are very good for the gut.

I have discussed this lifestyle with my consultant and its quite refreshing to have consultant who actually gave me advice on the alternatives or shall I say ways to complement traditional medical treatment. He is convinced exercise is one the best Cancer Treatments there is.

He is convinced many Cancers could be eradicated by a change in diet and a reduction of processed foods. If you was given a can of some chemical substance would you drink it ? Of course not. However we do eat and consume chemicals daily. Its sprayed on fruit and vegetables and meat has been processed to keep it longer. Our food is wrapped in plastic most plastics are made from some form of oil or petroleum based substance. The products we use on our skin most are Petroleum based. Would you rub engine oil or petrol on your face and hands.

Its very difficult to completely avoid food that is wrapped in plastic and again all you can do is try and reduce the plastic covered products. I would got to the market or local fruit and veg shop or try and buy loose veg and fruit if possible in Supermarkets. However if you can support your local farm shop or fruit and veg shop.

My wife and I have mostly moved away from Dairy products. I used to love a glass of milk and was brought up on it. However think about we are the only Animal that drinks another animals Milk. It does make you wonder. There is an issue around having enough calcium but there are plenty of other sources of calcium.

Look I do still have a cup of tea with milk and one sugar so I am not an Angel. However that is about it in terms of Milk and pure sugar each day.  I guess its about choice many of us don’t bother or think about these things. Its not until something happens and while I thought I did plenty of exercise and eat a healthy diet. In fact I have always had a problem with my weight and in fact eat lots of processed food. Its quite shocking the amount that is out there.

These changes seemed to have worked for me I almost never take any pills now. i do take some vitamin D supplement during the winter that’s. The rest comes from seeds and nuts and veg. I love fruit but you have to be a little careful due to its high sugar content.

I love walking and try to do 10000 steps per day’ I dont always manage it but can do upto 16000 some days so it evens out. I try and cycle as well and do a small amount of weight training. I also love wild swimming and do this when I can. I am not a die hard all year cold water swimmer just yet !!.

I am not saying we can cure all illness by lifestyle changes alone however we can improve our health so much and feel so much better. We all have the capacity to change and its about small steps in my view and yes from time to time enjoy what you know is not good for you.
